The slaughter of World War I created the spiritual emptiness that hurts Europa and its diaspora to this day. It killed religious belief and ended people's faith in cultural and political institutions that had held fast for a thousand years. The Claremont Review of Books has a review of a compendium of books marking the upcoming hundred year anniversary of the Great War's end this November. A great review of some great books.
